Miranda Hunt

I joined Mater Health Services in 1998 on a three month temporary contract with no long term expectations. It is now 2008, I am still here and I still enjoy the daily challenges I face working in public affairs and in the health industry.

Health has taken a real hit in the media in the past 12 months and so it is more important than ever that Mater continues to deliver consistent brand messages to our target audiences, whether it is through our suite of newsletters (Scope, Generally Speaking and Mater News) or the media.

Through these communication tools we help to:

  • build Mater’s profile in the community as a leader in health care
  • build and enhance relationships with our key target audiences
  • reinforce Mater brand's through the media
  • assist in recruitment and retention of staff.

My role as public affairs manager is to determine what Mater’s key messages are and then facilitate their delivery to the appropriate target audience. Quite often this is through the media but sometimes it is a story for one of our publications or even the web.

This organisation has so many great stories happening every day that go untold because we don’t hear about them. We welcome your input so please let us know if you have a Mater story to tell—a new innovation, a patient success story, reaching a milestone or even something a bit quirky. We are always on the search for a good story!

When I am not at work I enjoy reading books, going to the movies, eating CCs in front of mind numbing television or having dinner parties with family and friends.
