CEO's message

Planning for the new Queensland Children's Hospital continues to gain momentum with the announcement of the amalgamation of cancer services from Mater Children's Hospital and the Royal Children's Hospital by September this year.

The oncology service from Mater Children's will re-locate to the Royal Children's Hospital, to form the Queensland Children's Cancer Centre.

This is an extremely positive outcome for the future of children's care and is the first step towards integrating paediatric services in the lead up to the establishment of the single Queensland Children's Hospital at South Brisbane in 2011.

Once relocated, Mater Children's Hospital former oncology ward area will be modified over a six month period to ensure that it is ready to accommodate paediatric cardiac services and patients from the Prince Charles Hospital in March 2008.

On another note, you should have received your 2007 Mater Health Services Clinical Services Directory in the mail by now. If you have not received your copy and would like to receive one please contact Mr James Speet at our Marketing Department on +61 7 3163 6153.
