Queensland X-Ray, located at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, has completed an upgrade of its existing MRI facility in preparation for the installation of the new G.E. 750 3Tesla (3T) MRI. Additionally, the new Queensland X-Ray PET/CT Centre is now open and scanning patients.
The 750 3T MRI is the latest generation MRI from G.E. Healthcare and the first to be installed in Australia. The technology features marked improvements in field homogeneity and the strongest gradient coils produced in a clinical scanner and offers major advantages in cerebral and body angiography, functional neuro-imaging and orthopaedic imaging.
The Queensland X-Ray PET/CT Centre houses the new G.E. Discovery PET/CT scanner. This is the first of these PET-CT scanners to be installed in Australia and one of just five worldwide. The PET/CT facility has been purpose built incorporating the most advanced structural and technical designs to maximise patient comfort and reduce patient and staff radiation exposure.
