Brisbane GPs have the opportunity to gain valuable Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points by attending the Mater Mothers’ Hospitals’ GP Maternity Shared Care Alignment Program.
In line with national trends and a commitment to providing the highest quality of antenatal care to women, Mater Mothers’ Hospitals (MMH), in partnership with South East Alliance of General Practice (SEAGP, Brisbane) and the Brisbane South Division of General Practice, launched the Maternity Shared Care Alignment Program late last year.
The program recognises the increasing complexity of antenatal care provision and the need to proactively manage current risks to both women and doctors in a shared care scenario.
It aims to strengthen the link between hospital and GP and deliver the best in obstetric care to public patients.
Director of Mater/UQ Centre for Primary Health Care Innovation, Caroline Nicholson says the MMH is committed to supporting all GPs participating in shared care to maintain their skills and familiarity with new protocols and approaches.
“The alignment program is designed to be as flexible as possible for busy GPs and to minimise time lost and risks inherent in delayed communication with the hospital, bookings and missing information,” Ms Nicholson explains.
An integral part of the Alignment Program is the delivery of a one day CPD program for GPs (RACGP QA&CPD Category One, 40 points) on Maternity Shared Care at MMH.
