CEO's message

Winter is always a busy time at hospitals, but while we have been at the coal face, there are also many unsung heroes at Mater performing exceptional work that should not go unrecognised.

This month, Mater Pathology received some well-deserved accolades after achieving five years accreditation to train anatomical pathologists, the first laboratory in Queensland to gain such a long-term accreditation. This achievement reflects a lot of hard work and dedication by the team, which was further demonstrated with the announcement that the Queensland Cord Blood Bank at Mater was granted a licence by the TGA .

In this edition of Generally Speaking, we highlight a number of outstanding accomplishments performed by Mater. We are very proud of a new educational program for people with Type I Diabetes and the introduction of a new type of cochlear implant that is set to revolutionise care for the hearing impaired.

All of these achievements show a true spirit of innovation and exemplify Mater's commitment in delivering an exceptional health care service to the community.
