Children’s sleep unit receives accreditation

Director of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Dr Gus Cooper said staff from the unit monitored the sleeping habits of up to 1000 young patients a year (up to five patients a night), to improve quality of sleep and therefore quality of life. He said the unit was currently the biggest in the southern hemisphere.

A joint committee of members from the Thoracic Society of Australia & New Zealand (TSANZ) and the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) awarded the department accreditation for a period of five years—covering all aspects of care, from staff skills to quality control.
