The VMO feedback was very positive and highlighted the desire to build on a strong foundation rather than make any significant changes. This was a pleasant and rewarding move forward from the days of genuine complaints about too few theatres, car parking issues and dissatisfied nursing staff.
It seems that the hospital’s work with theatre expansion, achieving parity with public nurse pay rates and the new car parking arrangements have helped to address some primary issues. It is hoped that Mater will now be able to partner with VMOs to enhance levels of service and provide an exceptional environment for clinical leadership.
Mater Private Hospital Executive Team has made a commitment to acting on the feedback from the VMO surveys and has already incorporated a number of VMO-led initiatives into the business plan for the future of the hospitals at both Brisbane and Redland.
The feedback and the draft plan will be shared with VMOs at upcoming meetings.
