In the spirit of Mater Health Services Mission statement, the organisation continues to pursue opportunities to improve and expand quality health services in the Queensland community.
In conjunction with the University of Queensland, Mater has recently joined forces with Springfield Land Corporation to be part of the fully integrated Springfield Health City.
This one stop health and wellness destination will result in a valuable extension of services into this fast growing region, providing services for a greater population catchment of 132 000, with the future greater catchment expected to rise to 236 000 by 2021. For more information about this project, go to www.greaterspringfield.com.au.
Mater Private Hospital Redland will also strengthen links within the Bayside community with plans for expansion. Mater Specialist Medical Consulting Suites will soon be available at the Bayside Business Park currently under development in Redland (see page 8).
In ongoing efforts to provide convenient and effective services to patients, Mater Pathology has recently introduced BPay as an alternative method for payment of accounts. This step allows Mater Pathology's Home Collection Service patients greater flexibility and has proven to be a popular move with members of the community.
We are always on the lookout for opportunities to improve our commitment in offering holistic, compassionate service to the sick and needy and to respond to changing community health care needs. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have ideas for developing Mater services.
Regards, Dr John O'Donnell
