According to statistics released by the Queensland Injury Surveillance Unit (QISU), located at Mater Hospital, approximately 3000 children under 12 months present to Queensland Emergency departments each year with injuries largely sustained in the home.

On 4 November, Mater Health Services was presented with a Silver Award in the "Best Employee Recruitment" category of the "eHealthcare Leadership Awards" for its www.exceptional.org.au website. Mater was selected from more than 1100 entries in 12 specific categories and was the only Australian organisation to receive an award.

Mater Kids in Mind has recently launched Kids in Mind Private, a service that provides assessments and evidence based interventions to address issues including anxiety, depression, substance misuse and family conflict.

Since the outstanding success of Mater Doctors’ Dinner during last year’s Centenary celebrations, Mater has been working to establish a Mater Doctors’ Alumni. Devised as an opportunity to develop collegiality, Mater Doctors’ Alumni celebrates and enhances Mater Doctors’ special place in the broader medical community.
