Nursing Director Procedural and Critical Care Services, Mr Alan Porritt announced the latest addition to Mater Private’s management team saying, “Regan brings to us a wealth of experience from his 20 year nursing career”.

“He has considerable expertise in adult and paediatric critical care, most recently as Acting Nurse Unit Manager of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Mater Children’s Hospitals,” he said.

In this role, Mr Dent worked with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the successful integration of the Paediatric Intensive Care Units of Queensland Paediatric Cardiac Service and Mater Children’s Hospitals, including the establishment of Queensland’s first Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program.

Mr Dent lists his special clinical interests as continuous renal replacement therapy and ventilation strategies. He also volunteers with Operation Smile.

“I’d also like to thank Christine Birch for her exemplary leadership as Acting Nurse Manager over recent months,” Mr Porritt continued.

“She has selflessly put her staff and patients’ needs ahead of her own during her tenure and will, of course, remain with the ICU team in her substantive position of Clinical Nurse.”

Mr Dent commenced his new role on 26 October 2009.
