The redevelopment of Mater Mothers' Hospital and Mater Adult Hospital is moving forward as planned and on schedule.
Floor plans and designs for both hospitals are currently being reviewed by Mater Health Service Board and Queensland Health. Submissions for contractors to lodge their expressions of interest have been called for and it is planned that the initial tender process will be completed by October 2005.
Main construction work is to commence in April 2006, however some early building work may commence prior the date set to assist in minimising disruption to patients, visitors and Mater staff.
The redevelopment of both hospitals is an exciting time for Mater as it will not only mean that the hospital will have state-of-the-art facilities to meet all patients needs, but will also ensure that Mater will be well equipped to meet the medical challenges of the 21st century.
