In an Australian hospital first, Mater Private Hospital Brisbane is elevating surgical precision to a new level with the trial of the state-of-the-art O-ARM® Multidimensional Surgical Imaging System.
On Friday 20 June the Queensland Integrated Refugee Community Health Clinic (QIRCH) and Mater Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) held a one-day exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), showcasing artworks by children from a refugee background to celebrate World Refugee Day 2008.
Kerry Hart is the first paediatric specific nurse practitioner in Queensland. A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with advanced educational preparation and experience. They are authorised to practice in an expanded nursing role in a clinical setting.

Mater’s Director of Perinatal Medicine and Women’s Health Services Dr Don Cave spent 12 days in Port Vila, Vanuatu in March this year to follow up on a cervix cancer screening and treatment program. He was accompanied by Mater colleague, Stomal Therapy Nurse Petra Prokop, plus several others including GP Dr Margaret McAdam, who introduced and largely sponsored the project over the past 18 months.
