Mater Health Services is a not-for-profit health care organisation made up of three hospitals for non-insured patients and four hospitals for insured patients, caring for more than half a million patients each year. As an extension of our services, Mater provides free medical education activities for GPs across Queensland.
Unfortunately, with every event that Mater hosts, we incur a substantial charge from venues for wasted catering as a result of non–attendances. As a result of these charges Mater will implement a cancellation policy for all free GP education activities.
Policy In light of the monetary and resource costs associated with non–attendance at Mater education activities, a cancellation policy has been introduced commencing 1 July 2005. The cancellation fee will vary according to the costs associated with the activity and will be displayed on the confirmation fax for all attendees.
Cancellations must be communicated (either in writing, email, fax or by phone) to Mater Marketing Department, 24 hours prior to an event to avoid a fee. GPs who do not cancel within the required time-frame, or who fail to attend an event without notice, will be sent a letter with an invoice requesting payment.
The policy will be implemented from the 1 July 2005.
Naturally, there will always be room for negotiation around failure to advise due to extenuating circumstances.
For further information or if you would like a copy of the policy please contact Lisa Dibbs on +61 7 3163 1975 or email lisa.dibbs@mater.org.au
