2007 will be an important year for the Queensland Children's Hospital project.
Planning for this new facility continues to gather momentum and the next item on the agenda is the development of the Health Services Plan. This plan will be completed over two stages and is a key step in examining what paediatric services are currently available across the state and to define what health care services will be provided in the new hospital.
As part of this process, Service Advisory Groups will be established for each speciality or discipline. These working groups that will examine the practicality of providing tertiary services for children on a state-wide basis, including developing a clear understanding of what components would need to be based on-site or could be delivered in a local or regional setting.
