New Nurse Manager joins Mater Private Hospital Redland

Mater Private Hospital Redland is pleased to announce the appointment of Marcia Morris as Nurse Unit Manager of the Women’s Health and Birthing Unit.

Mrs Morris brings with her a passion for midwifery and a diverse range of skills developed over 18 years in this field, including birth suite management and care of antenatal and postnatal women.

She migrated to Australia from the United Kingdom in 2006 to take a position as Clinical Midwife at Mater Mothers’ Hospitals. Since this time Mrs Morris has worked as a Clinical Midwifery Facilitator for Ambulatory Services and most recently as a Practice Development Midwife.

Mrs Morris qualified as a registered nurse in 1989 and worked in a rehabilitation ward for the elderly for 18 months prior to commencing midwifery training. After qualifying as a midwife, she practiced in team midwifery, birth suite, antenatal clinics, antenatal education and postnatal care.

In 1998, Mrs Morris completed a post graduate honours degree in midwifery and consolidated her midwifery experience focusing largely on birth suite management of both low and high risk women.

Fostering an active interest in continuing professional development for midwives, Mrs Morris has been actively involved in the facilitation of the MaCRM (Maternity Crisis Resource Management) course based at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

She looks forward to working closely with Mater’s medical community to provide a diverse range of obstetric and gynaecology services to patients within the Bayside area.
