Mater hits the news

The month of January was a record breaking month for media with more than 800 Mater related stories covered in print, radio and television.

Starting with the Centenary celebrations on 4 January, the media coverage was highlighted by extensive news coverage including Channel 9, Channel 10 and the ABC plus a full page feature in the Sunday Mail and multiple radio interviews.

Mater's support in reopening Caboolture's Emergency Department also captured the interest of the media and the public which became the leading health issue for the month of January. The story was also a hot topic of conversation for talkback radio.

February continued the trend with the launch of Mater Medical Research Institute's prostate cancer trials, Mater's 100 stories project and history book, Expressions of Mercy, all attracting widespread media coverage.

The public launch of major building works for the new Mater Mothers' Hospital kicked off another busy month in March with a number of stories in the local press.

With health high on the media's agenda, we can look forward to some more busy months ahead.
