Rendezvous with Romance

A record crowd of 650 people joined Mater to celebrate its 100th birthday at the 16th annual Rendezvous with Romance Ball.

The ball, which raises funds to make little miracles happen in Mater Mothers' and Children's Hospitals, featured performances from well-known stage performers Rhonda Burchmore and Doug Parkinson.

A charity auction of exclusive items including a swimsuit donated by Grant Hackett and high quality artworks drew strong support from the crowd, as did the silent auctions and Giving Trees.

“Rendezvous with Romance is one of Mater Foundation's signature events and it was wonderful to see so many people coming out to help us celebrate 100 years of exceptional care at Mater,” says Mater Foundation Executive Director Nigel Harris.

“It was also gratifying to see such a strong contingent of Mater's visiting medical offi cers and senior administrative staff celebrating Mater's Centenary.

“With their support, we've raised much-needed funds for the care of babies and children in our Mothers' and Children's Hospitals.”
