What is your training/background?

I completed my obstetrics and gynaecology training at the University of South Florida College of Medicine Department of OB/GYN at the Tampa General Hospital, Florida, USA. After working extensively in St. Petersburg, Florida, I moved to Australia to begin my practice here. I worked initially in far north Queensland before coming to Brisbane and setting up private practice at Mater Private Hospital Redland. I have recently returned to Brisbane after working in Florida at Bayfront Medical Center for four years.

Special interests?

Gynaecological transvaginal ultrasound.

Why did you choose to specialise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology?

Obstetrics in particular allows me to be part of the happiest occasion a family will ever experience. The specialty also gives me the opportunity to being able to develop very close relationships with my patients.

What are the most exciting areas of your work?

After delivering new bundles of joy to excited new parents, my interest lies in gynaecological ultrasound as a diagnostic tool to investigate the pelvic organs and rule out pathology.

What has been your greatest professional achievement so far?

To spend eighteen months in rural and remote communities of far north Queensland providing antenatal and gynaecological care as part of the far north Queensland Regional Obstetrics & Gynaecological Service (F.R.O.G.S). Also, to later obtain membership and fellowship in the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

What is the most challenging area of your specialty?

Caring for two patients at once with both mother and baby sharing equal priority in different situations.

My family!
