CEO's message

On November 7, Mater Health Services joined Australia in national “Thank you Day”, a day to acknowledge Australia's health and medical researchers in their commitment to find cures for the many diseases that affect our community.

There are over 100 researchers at Mater Medical Research Institute and across Mater investigating a multitude of conditions such as cancer, diabetes, childhood growth and development and perinatal mortality.

In this edition of Generally Speaking, we highlight one of the many clinical trials currently taking place at Mater for patients with lung cancer. The trial results are promising and we hope this new treatment option will improve the quality of life for cancer sufferers.

The diversity and scope of research being undertaken at Mater is truly exciting and “Thank you Day” is a timely reminder to all of us that we are indebted to all of our researchers as they strive to create a better future for each of us.
