Mater Private Hospitals, Redland and Brisbane have won the prestigious Press Ganey 2006 Success Story Contest.
The award recognises Mater Private Hospital's innovation and dedication to quality service and highlights the exceptional achievements of the staff at the “coalface” of our organisation.
Due to the many outstanding submissions, Press Ganey awarded two winners this year, Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Redland in Queensland and St John of God, Subiaco in Western Australia. The contest is open to Press Ganey's 250 clients from Australia and New Zealand.
In 2003, Mater Health Services engaged Press Ganey Associates to conduct an organisation-wide "Employee Perspective Survey".
The survey results revealed that customer focus, quality, and participation were the key issues for Mater staff and that Mater Health Services should focus on these concerns as their highest priority.
The win is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the hospital community, especially the staff involved in the numerous (QAGs). For the past three years, the QAGs, under the guidance of Service Improvement Manager Lysanda Hollands and Service Improvement Officer Sally Havers, have led the hospitals' service improvement initiatives with support from Mater Private Quality Council.
Through examining "the good, the bad and the ugly" Mater Private Hospital has engaged and empowered staff to incorporate quality care into our culture, become decision makers and change agents and act on issues relevant to their individual and unique work environments.
