Biography

Dr Anton Ghiculescu is a consultant general physician and clinical pharmacologist in private practice.

In his final years of training Dr Ghiculescu worked in the internal medicine and clinical pharmacology departments at Princess Alexandra Hospital and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

His extensive Australian and overseas training has equipped him with modern clinical skills intended to use in the provision of holistic physician care.

As a general physician, Dr Ghiculescu is available to assist in the management of acute and chronic medical conditions with a particular interest in perioperative medicine. His skills in this demanding area provide streamlined physician support. Optimised perioperative care is likely to correlate with improved medical and surgical outcomes.

As a clinical pharmacologist, Dr Ghiculescu has particular interest in the quality use of medicines (QUM) including drug safety, drug interactions, adverse drug reactions and therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM).  Dr Ghiculescu co-authored the monograph “Adult therapeutic drug monitoring in Queensland hospitals” which aims to promote rational use of TDM. He has published extensively in the QUM area as well as holding membership and observership positions on Australian drug advisory committees.
