Biography

In 1997, Dr Carmody completed his specialist training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, after which he moved to the United Kingdom as a Senior Registrar for the Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge and then for the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

After leaving the United Kingdom, Dr Carmody then returned to Brisbane and became the Senior Lecturer for General Surgery in the University Department of Surgery at the Mater Hospital. He is also the RACS Supervisor of Surgical Training for the organisation and a visiting surgeon for the Mater Private Hospital. His greatest professional achievement to date is recently receiving the President’s Award for services to Surgical Training in 2006 at the College of Surgeons in Melbourne.
