Biography

Dr Tollesson is an adult and paediatric neurosurgeon with clinical interests in microsurgery, trauma, hydrocephalus and neuro-endoscopic surgery, as well as basic and complex spinal surgery for cervical, thoracic and lumbar disorders.

He commenced medical training at Umea University, Sweden followed by general surgical training and specialist neurosurgery training. During his career, Dr Tollesson has worked as a consultant at the National Hospital in Norway and Karolinksa University Hospital in Sweden. Since arriving in Australia in 2006, he has worked as a consultant neurosurgeon for Queensland Health in Townsville and Brisbane.

Dr Tollesson completed his Australian Fellowship Examination in neurosurgery in 2007 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. His clinical expertise spans surgery for brain and skull base tumours, surgery for aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, pituitary tumours, trigeminal neuralgia and hemi facial spasm.

He now consults from his practice at Mater Medical Centre, South Brisbane.
