Dr John Walsh is an orthopaedic surgeon with clinical interests in paediatric orthopaedics and trauma, neuromuscular diseases in children and adults, and adult foot and ankle surgery.
He completed his undergraduate training at Manchester University in 1978 before obtaining his Fellowship with The Royal College of Surgeons, London in 1982. Following this, Dr Walsh completed his Masters in Orthopaedics in Liverpool in 1985. He achieved FRACS in 2006.
Dr Walsh opened the first gait lab at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool and instigated the inaugural paediatric orthopaedic instructional course for the orthopaedic fellowship of the combined Royal Colleges of Surgeons, United Kingdom.
Prior to his arrival at Mater in 2004, Dr Walsh was an examiner and Mersey region orthopaedic advisor for the Royal College in orthopaedics.
He consults from Mater Children’s Hospitals—where he is Director of Paediatric Orthopaedics— Mater Private Hospital Redland and Wynnum Specialist Centre.
