On Wednesday 3 June over 100 Mater People celebrated the official opening of Mater Centre for Neurosciences. The opening marked the start of a new era in neurosciences at Mater and builds on a legacy that began at Mater in 1954 when the first neurosurgery case in Queensland was performed.
Mater Centre for Neurosciences represents a momentous step forward for neurosciences at Mater and Queensland. From one dedicated location, Mater Centre for Neurosciences provides specialist care for stroke, epilepsy, neurosurgery, neurology and spinal surgery.
Special guests included members of the McIneiry family, who donated generously towards the establishment of the new Stroke Unit in addition to affiliated specialists and industry partners, who support Mater’s vision to remain at the cutting edge of neurosciences.
As part of the launch a new website has been created – neuro.mater.org.au. The website contains further information on the new centre, including information on affiliated neurosciences specialists.
