In November last year the Mater South Brisbane campus sustained unprecedented damage from the storm that impacted South Brisbane and surrounding suburbs. The damage from the storm created an astonishing repair bill of $35 million in addition to deeper cultural ramifications such as the closing of the Mater Convent which officially closed as a residence for the Sisters of Mercy Congregation.
Since the storm, rectification works have been underway across the Mater South Brisbane campus with the main focus being the replacement of tiled roofs.
