Oncology - public patients

Consultation and treatment for oncology patients is delivered at the Mater Cancer Care Centres at South Brisbane and Springfield. The clinical condition and address for each patient will be considered when determining the consultation/treatment location.

Purpose

This page contains information for general practitioners on how to refer patients aged 16 years and over to Oncology services at Mater Hospital Brisbane.

Scope of Service

Provides treatment for a wide range of cancers in a multi-disciplinary environment.

This service provides treatment for patients with a diagnosis of cancer.

Please note: Patients need a confirmed diagnosis of cancer prior to referral. 

Referral Criteria

Please include all of the minimum referral requirements and:

Histologically confirmed carcinoma

For leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma – referral to Haematology is required

If patient is likely to require surgery, consider referral to Colorectal Surgery, Breast/Endocrine Surgery or Gynae/Oncology.
