Oral Health

All newly arrived refugees have access to a prioritised oral health assessment. If the patient has pain then ensure the Oral Health Hub is aware of this situation.

Tuberculosis

Metro South Clinical TB Service (MSCTB)  Ph. (07) 3176 4141

Screening for TB is recommended for all newly arrived refugees. Currently the Mantoux test is the recommended test. The TB Gold test is not available on the MBS for routine screening and is expensive. A chest x-ray only picks up pulmonary TB.

The timing of this screening needs to be carefully determined because the MMR vaccination can interfere with the reading of the Mantoux test.
