2016 Mater Doctors’ Alumni Dinner

2016 Mater Doctors’ Alumni Dinner

The Mater Doctors’ Alumni Dinner was held on Friday 12 August at Customs House and provided an opportunity for over 150 Mater doctors and guests to gather for an evening of food and entertainment.

The Alumni presents an opportunity to honour doctors who have recently retired from practice and this year’s dinner celebrated the contributions of breast and endocrine surgeon Dr Neil Wetzig who worked at Mater from 1990 to 2015.

Dr Wetzig spoke fondly about his time at Mater where he consulted at the Mater Private Breast Cancer Centre, as well as his significant work with the organisation AusHEAL which brings Australian medical teams and equipment to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Whilst retired from his private practice in Brisbane, Dr Wetzig continues to be involved with surgical patients with complex and difficult conditions referred to HEAL Africa Hospital (HAH) in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Thank you to all of the Mater doctors and their guests who attended the Alumni Dinner.
