Mater welcomes Director, Surgical/Acute Care Services

Mater is pleased to welcome Dr Sanjeev Naidu as the Director, Surgical/Acute Care Services—supporting our aim to enhance clinical leadership across the organisation in alignment with the organisation’s Exceptional Every Time strategy.

Dr Naidu has held the position of Visiting Medical Officer as a General Surgeon at Mater’s South Brisbane campus since 2012, and at Mater Private Hospital Springfield following its opening in late 2015.

Dr Naidu’s many achievements include establishing a world-class Endoscopy Unit in addition to a Bariatric Service at QEII Hospital, and introducing two new surgical procedures to Australia—Video Assisted Anal Fistula Treatment and Endoscopic Pilonidal Sinus Treatment. He is also part of the Princess Alexandra Hospital Renal and Peritonectomy team, which provides a state-wide service across Queensland.

He has authored and co-authored many research publications, and in addition to his involvement in several current research projects, he also holds the position of Senior Lecturer at The University of Queensland.

Dr Naidu sits on the Queensland State Committee of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and Bachelor of Human Biology from University of Auckland. He is also a Specialist Reserve in the Royal Australian Air Force.

With achievements spanning health, education and research, Dr Naidu demonstrates a commitment to integrating these fields to support the provision of safe, low-variability, evidence-based healthcare, and his appointment strengthens existing capability and experience across the Surgical/Acute Care Services clinical stream.
