Mater clinicians have improved access to patient pathology test results

Mater clinicians now have improved access to patient pathology test results through Verdi.

Using an existing service called ‘GP Connect’, Mater clinicians can call 1300 856 344 and request Pathology Queensland/AUSLAB results to be electronically delivered to Mater and displayed within Verdi.

A communication pack is being sent out to all Mater clinical areas, that includes A5  laminated information sheets and PC monitor stickers that highlight the central contact number - 1300 856 344. If you have any questions regarding this improvement initiative please contact Jayson Hawke on [email protected] or 0411 269 558.

Instructions for requesting a patient’s Pathology Queensland results to display in Verdi

When a patient presents at Mater, their previous Pathology Queensland results can be retrieved either through:

Option 1 - Request copies of Pathology Queensland reports to be sent to Mater and displayed within Verdi, by phoning the ‘GP Connect’ central contact number - 1300 856 344.  This service is available Monday to Friday (8 am to 5 pm).

OR

Option 2 - If the clinician has access to ‘The Viewer’ (Queensland Health), they can view the Pathology Queensland results within the ‘Pathology’ tab of ‘The Viewer’.

When phoning the central contact number, the caller will hear the following message “Thank you for calling the GP Connect results line, please hold the line whilst your call is directed to our service desk”.

On speaking to the service desk staff:

1.       The clinician should explain they are calling from Mater.

2.       Provide the patient’s name and date of birth.   (Note: The Pathology Queensland patient demographic data will need to match the Mater patient demographic data for the incoming result to be successfully displayed in Verdi).

3.       Clinicians will have the option to ask for:

  • Certain types of reports, OR
  • Reports from a specific Queensland Health facility/Pathology Queensland collection point, OR
  • The number of reports i.e. last 10, last 20, etc, OR
  • The time period of reports required i.e. last month, last three months, last 6 months, last 12 months, everything, etc.

4.       Ask for the pathology reports to be sent to Mater - if the service desk is unsure, ask them to add MHS~CDO to the ‘Copy Doctor’ field.  Once sent they will be available within Verdi for clinicians to view.

Note when viewing the results in Verdi (on the Pathology tab), the 'Source' will say 'QHPATH' and at this stage the 'Ordering Clinician' will be displayed as 'Not, Provided'.  If you want to specifically identify the ordering clinician, you can contact GP Connect on 1300 856 344 and the service desk staff will be able to provide that information over the phone.

5.       To request results out of hours:

  • Clinicians can email: [email protected].  Electronic delivery will be made the next business day.

OR

  • If clinicians require the results immediately, they can phone the specific collection point (if known by the patient) and request they fax the results.  If the clinician asks them to add MHS~CDO to the ‘Copy Doctor’ field the results will also be sent electronically to Mater and appear in Verdi.

Business Support

If the requested Pathology Queensland results are not visible in Verdi, within 30 minutes of them being requested and sent electronically, the requesting clinician should call the specific collection point (if known by the patient) and request they fax the results.   Clinicians should also contact the Verdi Helpdesk ext. 7555 to investigate why it may not have automatically matched within Verdi.
