The Mater Room Service project will soon be expanded throughout Mater with patients at South Brisbane and Springfield expected to be ordering from the new menus from 6.30 am on Tuesday 6 December.
The service which was originally implemented at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane in 2013, provides a more efficient and cost-effective means of food preparation and patient meal delivery. The new room service menus also allow for an exceptional customer service experience while extending the differentiation of service between public and private models of care.
The service is supported by a specifically designed electronic menu management system that monitors meal choices for every patient, ensuring that patients can only order options that are suitable for their medical condition. The system also alerts staff if a patient misses a meal, allowing their nutritional intake to be consistently monitored.
Previously only available to patients at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Springfield, the new room service menus will be made available across Mater public and private hospitals at South Brisbane and Springfield.
Further details of the areas affected and the process is outlined here.
