Registrations now open for the Mater Research TRIP Symposium – Wednesday 22 November 2017
Registrations are now open for the annual Mater Research Translating Research into Practice (TRIP) Symposium which will be held at the Translational Research Institute in Woolloongabba. 
 
Now in its fifth year, the symposium brings together researchers, clinicians and professionals from Queensland’s leading medical research institutes, hospitals, health organisations and universities, to highlight and discuss leading local and national health research as it translates to clinical practice and improving patient outcomes.
 
This year’s program addresses industry wide challenges around The Path to Preventative Health: Building Evidence for Policy and Practice.
 
Featuring clinical research case studies and thought-provoking presentations, the 2017 TRIP symposium provides a scientific forum to learn and discuss valuable insights from leading Australian medical researchers around:
  • The socioeconomic impact of preventive medicine
  • Preventive health interventions for at risk populations
  • Strategies for preventing and/or reducing the burden of established diseases and related co-morbidities
  • Community-based and health behaviour change interventions in preventive medicine
 
This year’s symposium features keynote presentations from:  
  • Prof Gita Mishra (The University of Queensland) 
  • Prof Mishra will share valuable insights on how can population based studies can help guide preventive health initiatives
  • Dr Lisa Mackenzie (Health Behaviour Research Collaborative, the University of Newcastle and Hunter Medical Research Institute) 
  • Dr Mackenzie will talk about implementation science and reducing the psychosocial burden of cancer
  • Prof Elizabeth Eakin – (Faculty of Medicine, The University of Queensland). 
  • Prof Eakin will discuss Healthy Living after Cancer:  Translating evidence into community-based practice
  • Prof. David Whiteman – (Melanoma and Skin Cancer Research Centre, QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute). 
  • Prof Whiteman will present research findings around the costs and benefits of preventive medicine - lessons from cancer prevention.
