Health Advocacy Legal Clinic at Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane

A Health Advocacy Legal Clinic (HALC) has been established at Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane to provide free advice or legal help by a small team of supervised law and social work students. A primary function is to connect clients with appropriate representation and resources.

Mater patients needing assistance and legal advice in matters such as debt, tenancy, guardianship, mental health and disability, enduring powers of attorney or advanced care plans can be referred to the clinic through social work or medical staff. This service does not provide assistance for family, criminal or complex commercial matters.

The clinic runs once a week during the university semesters and is for in-patients and out-patients for the Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane and across the Mater Hospital.
