Rostering Enhancement Project

Mater Health is launching a project to transform and enhance the rostering experience to further help our Nursing and Midwifery Managers and employees plan their work and personal lives.   The project will initially focus on Nursing and Midwifery staff but will ultimately be made available to benefit all Mater Health staff.

Aligning with the Exceptional Every Time strategy, the Rostering Enhancement Project will focus on achieving consistency in Mater rostering practices, enhancing the technology that supports managers throughout the rostering process and providing managers and employees with the flexibility to use a variety of devices for a contemporary rostering experience.  

There are a number benefits this enhanced approach to rostering will provide Nursing & Midwifery Managers and employees, some of which include:

  • a common set of rostering guidelines across Mater Health to ensure greater consistency and equity in our rostering practices and simplify processes;
  • automating how rosters are created, managed and reviewed so more time can be spent providing safe, high quality care to our patients;
  • capturing ‘real time’ information that will further support managers’ decision making and reduce the volume of retrospective changes to a roster; and
  • flexibility to use a variety of devices such as desktop, mobile phone or tablet to electronically manage the roster, view the roster, apply for leave, update availability, indicate preferences and pick up or swap shifts at their convenience.

The Rostering Enhancement Project will be led by the Directors of Nursing with the support of a dedicated project team.
