Biography

Dr Doug King, an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in lower limb surgery.

After graduating with first class honours from the University of  Queensland School of Medicine, Dr King subsequently trained in orthopaedic surgery in regional Queensland and Brisbane, receiving his Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2009.  Since then, he has been based in Brisbane where he is a senior lecturer (clinical) at the University of Queensland School of Medicine.

Dr King is committed to delivering a very high standard of care to all his patients. In 2012 he was awarded a Queensland Health Australia Day Award for excellence in the care of the elderly, fractured neck -of- femur patients.

Privately, he conducts his practice from his rooms in Annerley, with regular visits to satellite clinics on the Northside and Bayside. Patient care is ably supported through Dr King’s efficient and friendly administrative team, and his experienced surgical team.

Dr King’s special interests include the use of an anterior approach to total hip replacement. Professional affiliations include Fellowship of the AOA, Memberships of the Australian Arthroplasty Society, the AOA Trauma Society, the Foot and Ankle Society and the AMA.

Dr King is dedicated to offering his patients with the latest in digital surgery by using Zimmer Biomet’s ROSA® Knee System for total knee replacement, where appropriate. Robotic-assisted procedures are generally less invasive.

His scope of practice includes:

  • Hip conditions, including joint replacement surgery
  • Knee conditions, including joint replacement surgery, arthroscopy, ligament and cartilage reconstruction  and acute knee injury management
  • Foot and ankle conditions
  • Lower limb trauma surgery
  • Revision hip and knee replacement surgery

Appointments can be made by phoning during business hours.  Appointment times for acute injuries are quarantined to ensure patients are seen in a timely fashion.
