Biography

Dr Harsheet Sethi is a General and Hepatobiliary surgeon. She is currently the Director of the Acute Surgical Unit and training supervisor at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. She also sees patients through her private practice through Bridges Health and operates at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.

She holds full board specialist qualifications for general surgery in both the United Kingdom and Australia and is a member of the International Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary association (IHPBA), General Surgeons Australia and World Society of Emergency Surgery (WSES).

Dr Sethi graduated Master of Surgery with a gold medal in 2003 before commencing her specialty training in Hepatobiliary at Kings College Hospital (London), Leeds University Hospital, and Southampton General Hospital. She obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 2012, emigrated to Australia in 2014, and was awarded Fellowship of the Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) after a two-year Hepatobiliary fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Holding a Masters in Surgical Education from Imperial College London, Dr Sethi is dedicated to teaching through her affiliations with the University of Queensland as a senior lecturer, senior instructor at courses run by Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and the medical education unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Dr Sethi believes that patients should be active participants in the decision making process and facilitates this by ensuring they have a clear understanding of the problem. She is focussed on building close doctor-patient relationships and advocating for their health.
