Dr Mehan Siriwardhane graduated from the University of Sydney medical faculty in 2004 with a first class honours in medical science. He subsequently completed his general surgical training at Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2012.
After attaining his general surgical fellowship, Dr Siriwardhane underwent two years of specialist training in HPB and Upper GI surgery at Westmead Hospital in Sydney.
He then returned to Brisbane to complete a fellowship in minimally invasive HPB surgery at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital an completed the fellowship training program of the ANZ HPB Association. He finished his post fellowship training by undertaking a year of HPB and liver transplant surgery at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Dr Siriwardhane has a private appointment at Mater Private Hospital, South Brisbane and is also a public specialist at Mater and QEII Hospital and is qualified to perform robotic surgery.
He concurrently undertakes humanitarian work conducting training in HPB and general surgery as part of the outreach programs of the IHPBA since 2014. He serves on the committee for training and education for the international hepaticopancreaticobiliary association
