Dr Stephen Cattanach specialises in obstetrics and gynaecology with special interest areas including infertility, laparoscopy and prolapse.
“I planned to be a country GP, but when any babies were being born I was terribly unnerved. So I returned to the city to get some experience, loved the work and stayed on,” Dr Cattanach said.
Dr Cattanach graduated from Medicine at the University of Melbourne in 1980 and trained in obstetrics and gynaecology at a range of facilities in Melbourne including the Mercy Hospital for Women, the Austin and Repatriation Hospitals. He then trained for a further 18 months in Ireland.
Following his offshore training, Dr Cattanach completed his specialisation at Mater Health Services, Princess Alexandra and QEII hospitals, along with working as a clinical lecturer in the Department of Medicine at the University of Queensland.
Since 1989, Dr Cattanach has developed a wide-ranging practice and currently consults from Mater Medical Centre, South Brisbane.
