Dr Nicola Ward is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in adult lower limb trauma and elective

surgery.

She completed her medical degree at the University of Otago in 2000 and has done all of her

orthopaedic training in Queensland. Following that Nicola spent two years on fellowship in the

United Kingdom. One year with Professor David Beverland in Belfast doing primary hip and knee

arthroplasty, and one year with Mr Ward, Mr Chesser and Mr Acharya in Bristol doing pelvic and

acetabular trauma and revision hip arthroplasty.

Nicola has been a consultant since 2011 and is the deputy director of orthopaedics at the

Princess Alexandra Hospital. She is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Queensland Children’s

Hospital; specialising in acute pelvic trauma.

Nicola operates at Mater Private Hospital in South Brisbane, and consults from Dutton Park

Suites in Dutton Park.

Nicola is in the Royal Australian Airforce Specialist Reserve, is the treasurer for the Queensland

Branch of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and has recently completed her first Ironman.
