Dr Timothy McMeniman is an orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in treating sports injuries of the lower limb, knee arthroscopy, and knee and hip joint replacements.
Dr McMeniman is dedicated to offering his patients with the latest in digital surgery by using J&J’s VELYS orthopaedic surgical robot for Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA). Robotic-assisted procedures are generally less invasive and allow high surgical precision, which can mean faster recovery and fewer complications for patients.
He works in private practice and is a visiting medical officer at Mater Children’s Private Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.
Dr McMeniman was educated in Brisbane and completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. He completed his advanced training in orthopaedics in Queensland, obtaining his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2010.
In 2011 he trained with Mr Andrew Williams and Mr Jonathan Lavelle as the Knee Fellow at Chelsea and Westminster and The Lister Hospitals in London, England where he focused on the management of complex knee injuries, and injuries in professional athletes.
He was the Sports Medicine Fellow with Dr Peter Myers at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Brisbane Private Hospital. His experience covered sports, orthopaedics and reconstructive knee surgery, including meniscus preservation and transplantation, and joint replacement.
Dr McMeniman has an ongoing active role in teaching and research and is a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland. He has published and presented research both nationally and internationally.
