A/Prof Michael Reid is a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon practising at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Springfield.
A/Prof Reid specialises in knee, hip, and trauma surgery, and has extensive experience in lower limb arthroscopy, sports injuries, and knee and hip joint replacement.
He has clinical interests in preservation surgery around the knee, and regularly performs osteotomies around the knee, primary and revision ligament reconstructions and meniscal repairs.
He is very experienced in primary and revision arthroscopy around the knee and hip both robotic and navigated.
A/Prof Reid completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and has subsequently been awarded several Fellowships in the field of Orthopaedics in Australia and internationally.
He is actively involved in teaching and is involved in ongoing research and the advancement of orthopaedic surgery in Far North Queensland.
His extensive research is the basis for his ongoing work to improve postoperative outcomes for his patients with a faster return to normal activities and sport.
He has a keen interest in sports and has cared for athletes from professional sports organisations such as The Fremantle Dockers, the Cairns Taipans, and the English Rugby team.
