Biography

Fifi is a Paedicare paediatrician who provides newborn services at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane and specialist private paediatric services from the Salmon Building on the Mater South Brisbane campus.

Fifi was awarded her medical degree in 2006 from the University of Melbourne and received her Fellowship in General Paediatrics with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2017.

She completed her basic paediatric medical training at the former Mater Children’s Hospital and her neonatology training component at the Mater Mothers’ Hospital. Fifi has worked in various peripheral and rural Paediatric and Neonatal Units in Queensland. She has also worked at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, in Calgary, Canada.

Fifi enjoys teaching. As an Advanced Trainee, at the Queensland Children's Hospital (formerly the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital), she was responsible for teaching medical students as well as junior medical staff while rotating as a General Paediatric Medical Education Fellow.

Fifi’s special interest lies in the area of caring for children with complex and chronic medical conditions. Collaborating with family, carers and other medical subspecialties, her aim is to alleviate a child's physical, psychological, spiritual and social distress. She recently undertook a Post-Fellowship Diploma in Paediatric Palliative Care to further broaden her knowledge and expertise on providing holistic medical care to children of all ages.

Proficient in English and Bahasa Indonesia, Fifi has conducted frequent voluntary work as a medical interpreter to both Australian and Indonesian based non government organisations. Fifi believes that effective communication characterised by understanding, trust, respect, empathy and confidentiality play a crucial part in the delivery of quality medical care.

When not at work, Fifi enjoys travelling, and cooking up a feast in her kitchen. Considering that her latest research was in the area of childhood obesity and weight management program, she tries her best to eat in moderation and keep fit.
