GP Maternity Shared Care Alignment - Seminar 2

Time: 8am-1pm

Event description 
This course is an additional optional education program for GPs who have already completed Alignment 1. It is one way to meet the realignment requirement for (minimum) six hours CPD relevant to women's health every three years. 

The focus is on providing quality maternity shared care in the general practice setting, with up-to-date best practice information provided by Mater Mothers' staff specialists.

Topics include:

  • Preconception and fertility
  • Ectopic pregnancy
  • Persistent pelvic pain
  • Infections in pregnancy
  • Premature rupture of membranes and premature labour
  • Postpartum care
  • Neonatal examination
  • Diabetes in pregnancy 

Prerequisite activity 
A short series of informative podcasts are a required pre-learning acitvity for this course. GPs are required to listen to approximately 40 minutes of podcasts by Mater specialists on the management of medical conditions in pregnancy (thyroid, hypertension, asthma, VTE, obesity and pregnancy after bariatric surgery). The link to these podcasts will be provided upon registration. 

GPs are required to complete Alignment 1 before participating in Alignment 2, 3 or 4, however may do 2, 3 or 4 in any order. Alignment needs to be renewed every three years.

GP Maternity Shared Care Alignment - Seminar 1

Time: 8am-1pm

Event description 
This course is a requirement for GPs who wish to provide shared maternity care with Mater Mothers' Hospital.

The focus is on providing quality maternity shared care in the general practice setting, with up-to-date best practice information provided by Mater Mothers' staff specialists in obstetrics, midwifery, obstetric medicine, maternal fetal medicine, pharmacology and physiotherapy. 

Topics include:

  • First trimester presentations and recommended screening tests
  • Screening for fetal chromosome and genetic conditions
  • Medical complications in pregnancy (GDM, hypertension, preeclampsia) 
  • Prescribing in pregnancy 
  • Recommended immunisations
  • Perinatal mental health 
  • Domestic violence screening
  • Physiotherapy in the perinatal period 
  • Communication with Mater Mothers

If you have recently completed the Certificate of Women's Health (DRANZCOG), Antenatal ALM (RACGP), or an affiliated alignment program, then the Online Bridging and Realignment Education is an alternative option for you.

This course is an additional optional education program for GPs who have already completed GP Maternity Shared Care Alignment - Seminar 1. It is one way to meet the realignment requirement for (minimum) six hours CPD relevant to women's health every three years.
 
The focus is on providing quality maternity shared care in the general practice setting, with up-to-date best practice information provided by Mater Mothers' staff specialists.
 
Topics include: 
  • Pregnancy loss and bereavement
  • Physical and psychological birth trauma and trauma-informed care
  • Neonatal examination
  • Supporting breastfeeding - common presentations
Prerequisite activity 
GPs are required to complete Alignment 1 before participating in Alignment 2, 3 or 4, however may do 2, 3 or 4 in any order. Alignment needs to be renewed every three years.
 
The required pre-learning activity will be to listen to two informative podcasts. The link to these podcasts will be provided two weeks prior to the event.

This online education option is for GPs who have previously attended a GP Shared Care Alignment Seminar at Mater Mothers or for GPs who have completed an affiliated program and want to provide maternity shared care with Mater Mothers' Hospital.  

This online course can be completed at your own pace and commenced at any time.

It is recommended that you complete the course and quiz within three weeks of enrolment as your password will expire three weeks after registration.
