Mater Private Renal Dialysis Service

Mater now offers a private renal dialysis service for private patients and holiday/international patients.

The service is run in partnership with Fresenius Medical Care Australia at the Mater South Brisbane campus and is tailored to the needs of each patient. 

This modern dialysis clinic features state of the art electronic systems and dialysis equipment and offers private patients a spacious and light environment. The clinic has 12 haemodialysis stations with the options of haemodiafiltration (HDF) and high flux haemodialysis. Dedicated renal dialysis nurses ensure that expert clinical care is delivered to every patient. 

All private patients receive free dedicated patient parking and access to free Wi-Fi in addition to their own television screen and entertainment package.

Referral to Mater private consultant nephrologists, Dr Michael Burke and Dr Richard Baer is required to access the service. Drs Burke and Baer provide a comprehensive service for private renal dialysis patients with a focus on the delivery of excellent clinical care and the achievement of patient focused outcomes and continuity of care.

All private patients receive consultations both within the dialysis unit and in private consulting suites. These consultations include a comprehensive review of dialysis prescription, review and maintenance of dialysis access and review of regular blood tests, dialysis adequacy and renal medications.

Private dialysis patients with the Mater dialysis unit will have access to care provided by senior specialist nephrology nurses and allied health specialists including our renal dietitian, renal pharmacist and renal social worker. Private patients will be able to request a treatment day and time that is most convenient for them.
