Mater’s organisation-wide accreditation survey was held in South East Queensland during the week commencing Monday 14 February. This accreditation assessment marked the final phase in an organisation-wide assessment with previous accreditation surveys conducted at Mater North and Central Queensland facilities earlier in the month. 

 

The accreditation process provided an opportunity to showcase our services and demonstrate how Mater excels in meeting the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards (second edition).

 

This was the first time Mater was assessed against the second edition of the NSQHS Standards, which have been reduced from the previous 10 standards to eight, with a number of new criteria and actions added.

 

Mater met all of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards as part of the accreditation process which was a wonderful achievement by all of Mater’s people – especially considering the assessment took place against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Overall feedback from the assessors was extremely positive with the accreditation team noting Mater’s dedication towards patient outcomes with continued focus on quality and safety.  

 

Assessors recognised the compassionate and goal centred care that Mater provides and highlighted the exceptional patient journey they observed from admission through to theatre, recovery and discharge.
