2019 GP Education dates released

The Mater GP education team are proud to announce the first release of 2019 event dates.  The program will bring together highly regarded Mater specialists as speakers to update GPs on the latest evidence, important advances and current issues that are relevant to improving patient outcomes while promoting excellence in care.

The program assists GPs to fulfil mandatory accreditation criteria as set out by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

Additional dates will be announced throughout the year including a weekend conference!

The program is run in conjunction with and is complemented by Mater Education’s Professional Development and Learning courses. These courses are fee for service and support a wide variety learning methodologies and modalities.

Introduction to Young Adult Health

Monday 8 April | 8 am - 4.00pm | $330

This workshop offers participants the opportunity to develop skills to engage, assess and respond to the health needs and risks of young people. It will help participants develop youth-friendly services and reduce barriers to young people accessing services.

Medical and clinical experts from Mater's Young Adult Health Centre (MYAHC), including Associate Director Greg McGahan and Psychiatry Registrar Dr Laura Mead will present on a range of topical issues facing young adults, including:

  • Young adult context
  • Health and development of young people
  • Engagement and communication
  • Psychosocial care of young people – includes use of HEADSSS framework
  • Mental health
  • Substance use
  • Integrated care of young people

This event will be submitted to the RACGP for point allocation for Quality Improvement and Continuing Education program for the 2017-2019 triennium (40 Category 1 points) and is eligible for mental health CPD specific requirement recognition (activity no. 146995).
