Mater Health is pleased to announce the opening of the Emotional Health Unit. The new unit, as part of the Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane, will deliver specialist mental healthcare to young adults aged 16 to 25 which is recovery focused and evidence based.
The Emotional Health Unit was officially opened by His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland on Thursday 20 June.
There are three programs that make up the Emotional Health Unit:
Peter Flynn, of the Amanda Flynn Foundation, who generously helped make the Amanda Flynn Clinic possible also attended the opening of the unit. Collaborating with the Amanda Flynn Foundation will allow Mater to deliver specialist mental healthcare to young adults which is recovery focused and evidence based.
“The opening of the Emotional Health Unit is the next step in the continuous development of young adult mental health. The Amanda Flynn Clinic is the only private inpatient mental health facility in Queensland that caters specifically for young people aged 16 to 25 years”, said A/Prof Simon Denny, the Director of Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane.
