Governor of Queensland visits Mater

His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC Governor of Queensland and Mrs Kaye de Jersey recently visited Mater, hosted by Mater Group’s leadership team.

As a patron of Cystic Fibrosis Queensland, the Governor was interested to hear from Dr Lucy Burr about a clinical trial showing positive results for Mater cystic fibrosis patients.

The Governor also visited Mater Centre for Neurosciences and met with Epileptologist Dr Sasha Dionisio and Nurse Practitioner Peter Jones who explained how the team uses SEEG to monitor patients’ brain activity during a seizure and shared wonderful outcomes of patients now living seizure free.

Dr Mike Beckmann and Maree Reynolds hosted the Governor on a tour of Mater Mothers’ Pregnancy Assessment Centre and NCCU, learning about the care provided here, at Australia’s largest maternity service.
