Emotional Health Unit opening soon

Mater is excited to announce the opening of a new Emotional Health Unit for young people aged 16 to 25, as part of the Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane, on Monday 24 June. Thanks to the generousity of Peter Flynn from the Amanda Flynn Foundation, Mater will deliver in-patient specialist care to young adults who suffer from anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions.

The Emotional Health Unit consists of:

  • Amanda Flynn Clinic: a private mental health inpatient unit for young adults who require in hospital care during recovery
  • Recovery College: provides therapeutic programs with a focus on recovery and learning new skills for a range of different issues affecting young people’s mental health
  • Consulting suites: young adults can access treatment and therapy from a range of private mental health clinicians.

The Amanda Flynn Clinic, located on Level 7 of the Salmon Building, will be the only private inpatient mental health facility in Queensland that caters specifically for young people aged 16- 25 years.

Young adults who are admitted to the Amanda Flynn Clinic will also have access Recovery College as part of the therapeutic program.

The centre will then commence operation and be open to patients from Monday 24 June.
